Information about mounted prints
Who does your printing?
I have partnered with Folio Albums, a boutique fine art printing company based in Yorkshire (and the world leader in fine art wedding albums). Images are only as good as papers and inks allow and Folio's are of the very best, archival quality. It took me a long time and many many prints to find a company that I can trust to produce beautiful, consistent results that do my photographs justice. Folio work only with professional photographers who are vetted to make sure their standard of work is high enough! Each print comes with a certificate of quality.
What makes them different?
Folio is a professional fine art printing company and their prints are a world away from what you may have experienced with high street consumer printing. The printing machines, ink pigments, processes, papers and other materials are all completely different. The tones and colours are rich and true to the original image, the paper is heavyweight and of beautiful soft texture, the fine detail is exceptional and the prints will not fade or discolour. Each print is basically a work of art (which makes sense because Folio use the same printing techniques and materials as used in art galleries and museums).
I take all the hard work out of getting prints done and I am more than happy to help with designing wall pieces and suggesting different sizes and crops of your images to see what works best for your space.
What does "mounted" mean?
My prints are already mounted, which means the print is attached (i.e. "mounted") to a stiff white card backing, with a white card window (or "mat") around the print itself so they are protected and ready to pop in a frame (and are much nicer to give as gifts in their own right). Usually when you buy frames they will already have a loose mat inside. The difference is that the mounts I provide and the glue used to hold the print in place in the mount are acid-free and fully archival so the print will not fade or degrade over time (likewise the ink and paper of the print itself). The mounts are made from the same materials as used in art galleries and museums, or from a fine art framer. You can see the texture of the mounts and prints in the photographs below.
What does "archival" mean?
The pigment-based inks, fine art paper and mounting materials are all acid-free and pH-neutral so will not discolour or fade over time.
What paper do you use?
Folio prints my images on the very best fine art paper, with the following qualities:
heavyweight 310gsm fine art paper
razor sharp image definition
100% cotton rag
Acid free and pH-neutral
Made from sustainable sources
Soft texture with matte finish.
Are your prints standard sizes?
All the prints and mounts are standard sizes so its really easy to find frames to fit. If you need the exact measurements please just ask.
How long do the prints take to arrive?
Once you place your order, I will check and adjust the file before I send it to be printed to make sure it is absolutely perfect and optimised for Folio's printers (this is usually done the same day). The prints should then arrive with you by courier (and beautifully packaged!) within 2-3 business days.
